Time for an Update! (It's a long one!)

I have been slacking on updating our blog for several weeks. It is amazing how much changes with a baby in those few weeks. Audrey Kate is growing more beautiful and more fun everyday! I thank God for her constantly.

God gave me this verse this morning for her: Colossians 1:9-12 " For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding. And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strenghtened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and joyfully giving thanks to the Father who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom of light." I don't believe it is ever too early to start praying for the salvation of our little ones. I pray daily that she would come to know Jesus at an early age and glorify him with her life. I know that my primary purpose in her life is to raise her guiding her toward a relationship with God. WOW - what a huge task!! I am sure thankful to have God with me on this one and I know that showering her with prayer is important.

Other updates:

Audrey Kate sat on Santa's lap the weekend after Thanksgiving. It didn't phase her at all and she looked so adorable in her little dress. What a cutie!! I have a feeling that next year - at 16 months - she may not be so willing to sit on a stranger's lap -- it is kindof a weird tradition if you think about it.

We introduced her to the stationary entertainer. Some friends from church purchased this for her (thank you!) and she loves it -- see how happy she is. She doesn't quite touch the bottom yet so she is literally just hanging out in it. She loves to look at everything though - she doesn't want to miss a thing - what a curious girl!

We have yet to see her roll over. I have caught her once on her back after I put her down on her stomach....but I missed it - Wes said she ended up on her tummy when she was put on her back....but again.... we missed it. Every time I get the camera out to catch her rolling over....nothing....not even a tilt in that direction - lol -- I guess I must have patience.

Some other cute pictures -Audrey Kate with her new sweatshirt ready for the cold

Her cute outfit for church - don't you love it??

Sitting in her bumbo ready for Arkansas to play- and wearing Daddy's hat
She is talking up a storm and happy as can be. She is finally on a somewhat predicable schedule and that is so nice!! She goes to sleep quickly at night all by herself in her crib and typically sleeps the whole night - - yes from 8-7!!! She may wake up and talk to herself a little while in the early morning - but she doesn't need mommy anymore to get back to sleep!! What a big girl! She started taking good naps during the day too -- so I am so proud of her and loving every moment of being a mom! Thank you Jesus for this precious baby girl!!

Betty Crocker -- MOVE OVER!!

I made a small Thanksgiving meal for Wesley and his mom this year - Audrey Kate napped right through the meal -- anyway - I decided to make this apple pie recipe with a lattice crust -- why did I make that decision...we may never know -- but the good news is that it turned out BEAUTIFUL and tasted AWESOME!!! I was so proud of myself that I took a picture -- and I am sharing it with you -- wish you could have tasted it........maybe some other time.....and yes I do know that I am a total dork :)

4 months old!

Audrey Kate was 4 months old on Sunday! I can't believe it. For one, the time seems to have flown by....but on the other hand - it is hard to imagine my life now without her in it. She brings such joy to my life -- I am totally crazy about her. She went for her 4 month check up yesterday. She now weighs 12 pounds 8 ounces, just below the 50th percentile. Her length is in the 90th percentile. We have a very tall skinny girl. The doctor didn't give her shots this time because she had a cold - so we will go back next week for the shots...never an exciting thing - that is for sure. Anyway, her eyes are still blue and he said that there is a chance that they might stay that way. Either way, she is a gorgeous healthy baby girl!! What a blessing!!

We have arrived!!

It is now official - Wes and I have embraced the progress of technology. We may be behind most....up until this month we had a regular TV and recorded shows on a VCR -- read that right -- we used a VCR to record shows....we could set the timer and everything.....a few weeks ago - we got a 46" flat screen TV at a pre-Black Friday sale and this week we added a DVR onto our cable plan. The TV is awesome!! We love it! The DVR --- well it is taking us a while to get used to -- there are so many is crazy and the remote control has soooo many buttons.....but I am sure by the end of the year we will have it down -- or we can just wait a few years and have Audrey Kate program everything for us -- haha -- we have truly arrived in THIS century....better late than never I guess! :)

What a scream!

Here is my new favorite picture of Audrey Kate and her daddy -- isn't it just precious??

Saturday night we were sitting with Audrey Kate and talking to her. For some strange reason, we started to scream at her....don't ask me why....she was soooo funny - she just screamed back at us - we took turns like this for 10 minutes - it was hilarious -- we tried to capture it on video -it is just a little taste of how silly our little girl is --

5:30 AM

Audrey Kate woke up at 5:30 this morning -- she just laid in her crib talking to herself.....she is lucky she is so cute. Even at 5:30 this is a precious voice to wake up the video it is dark because her room is you can't see anything...all you hear is Audrey Kate...what a cutie!

Drummer Girl!

Audrey Kate's daddy is already teaching her how to play the drums -- this girl has got rhythm!

Play Mat

This is just a quick video of Audrey Kate playing on her playmat and talking to her toys - what a smart girl....and she has so much to say!!! I think that she gets her talking skills from her mom....would you expect any different from a speech pathologist's daughter??

The day has finally arrived!!

It finally happened!! Audrey Kate slept the whole night last night - she went down at 8:30 and did not wake up until just before 7:00 -- YYIIIPPPEEE!! And...when she woke up she was just talking to herself in her crib. Now she has been sleeping through the night without eating for about a week now - but we have to get up 3-4 times a night to give her her paci so that she can go back to sleep -- but last night she was such a big girl!! I am so proud of her and so well rested - although I think that I could still take a nap this afternoon :) - just wanted to share the good news!

Hi Ho Hi Ho - It's off to work we go......

The seven dwarfs were always so happy as they whistled their way off to work.....and I think that I figured out why -- they must have only been working 2 days a week. I think that I truely have the best of both worlds. I get to be a mom to my beautiful Audrey Kate, staying home with her 5 days a week, and have been blessed with only going to work 2 days a week. It was a choice that I made with my husband's support to return to work...and it was a difficult one. I knew that I didn't have to go back...but I love what I do so much and have worked so hard to get to this point - and I wasn't ready to let it go. And let me tell you, I love my job. It feels so good to get up and get dressed and be a professional making a difference in the lives of children in need and their families - helping them learn to communicate. I feel like I am retaining a sense of self. It allows me to not have to rely on Wesley for my adult interaction - and gives me something interesting to talk to him about when I get home. It has helped me be a better wife and enjoy my husband and daughter even more...if that is possible....I treasure every moment we have together now and feel as though I am a better mother/wife because I am not taking those moments for granted. Now, I am not just spending time with her - I am spending quality time with her - and that is the best thing I can do for my child -- I know some people think differently about working and being a mom - but this is a decision that we made as a family and is something that we believe is the best thing for our family at this time. I am so thankful to have such a wonderful supportive husband who has supported me in this decision. :)

Bumper Pads

Audrey Kate has learned to turn her body around while she is lying on her back. She started doing this yesterday when she was playing on her play mat - and I thought it was so cute. She rolls up onto her side and kicks her legs - turning herself around. Well, last night I checked on her twice and both times she was sideways in her crib....the second time - her face was up against the bumber pad!!! This freaked me out!! I could see her easily getting her face stuck against the bumper pad and not being able to move her body to get where she could breathe again -- so I think that the bumper pads may be removed--at least for a while -- I would rather her bumb her head or bruise her knee on the crib - then get stuck where she couldn't breathe -- am I the only crazy one who thinks this way???

Look at that!

I was looking at Audrey Kate the other day and wow she sure has gotten bigger - we took pictures of her getting dried off after she got out of the bath - just like when she took her first real bath at home - just look how big our little girl is getting - can you believe it - and it has only been 3 months. The picture below is from 4 days old.

Tummy Time Fun

Audrey Kate is getting so strong - here are some pictures that I took today during tummy time - she will be rolling over before we know it!

Halloween Cutie

This was Audrey Kate's first Halloween - what a cutie! She wore a cute Halloween outfit during the day - she loved her bow - but as you can tell she was not a big fan of her halloween hat. Audrey Kate decided to be an adorable bunny. We went to my friend Sara's rehersal dinner that night - so no trick-or-treating for us....can't wait for next year though. Doesn't Audrey Kate make the cutest bunny you have ever seen -- aaawwww!

Diabetes Walk

Wes, Audrey Kate, and I participated in a Diabetes Walk for the Cure today. It was cold in the morning so we had to bundle Audrey Kate up and put on a hat -- she looked totally adorable. I think that this was the first time that most of the people at Wes's work saw Audrey Kate. A lot of money was raised for research and it was cool to play a small part in something much bigger. A lot of kids suffer from this disease and have to rely on needles and insulin to survive everyday. What a blessing it was to participate in this day.

Figuring it out!

Audrey Kate received a Kick and Play Bouncy Seat from her great Aunt Vicki. In order to get the lights to go and the music to play you have to kick enough so that your feet/legs hit the sensors on the bottom of the seat. This morning, as I was making her bottle, I think that she finally figured it out. She was just kicking away! What a smartie!

Bumbo Seat

Grammy gave Audrey Kate this cute Bumbo seat. She was just chilling in it this morning and looking around. I started to talk to her when she was in there and she was smiling and talking back to me. She had just finished breakfast which is why she makes that funny noise at the end of the video -- only cute when you are a baby!! Thanks for the Bumbo Grammy!

Trip to Arkansas

This past weekend, Audrey Kate took her first road trip. We went to Arkansas to see some of Wes's family. She did such a great job sleeping in different places and traveling. She enjoyed being held and loved on by lots of people. Here are some pictures of Audrey Kate with her grandparents, great grandparents, great uncle, second cousins and other extended family.

Oh my goodness! Audrey Kate had her 2 month checkup today - she is still a healthy girl. She weighs 10 pounds 4 ounces now - and I believe it - she is getting heavy!! Well, they gave my baby girl shots. I have always heard moms say that they cried the first time that their baby got shots -- I thought that they were just silly -- boy was I in for a shock. They gave her two shots - one in each thigh - her face turned bright red and when she finally breathed again - she screamed louder than I had ever heard!! And the moment I say her face - I cried!!! Poor sweet baby girl - she went right to sleep when she calmed down. They put two Bugs Bunny band aids on her legs -- Her first BIG GIRL BAND AIDS!! Can you believe it??

Audrey Kate makes her debut at church

Today was Audrey Kate's first day to go to church. She sported a blue and white strip dress and adorable bow made especially for her by her mommy. Doesn't she look adorable? We also caught her smiling about her fabulous outfit on camera -- what a cutie!! She was a little fussy in the service...but received lots of compliments from everyone that she knew and even some that she didn't.Overall, the day was a success and she will probably nap the rest of the day due to all of the excitement.

The nursery

Audrey Kate's nursery is almost finished. We went with colors red, sage, black and white. I just love these colors and the bedding was so precious. I hope that my little sweetie likes red and butterflies! My sweet friend Kim painted the letters and the canvases to add a special touch to her room -- she is so talented and has made Audrey Kate's room truly fabulous! The daisy medicine cabinet was provided by Audrey Kate's wonderful Aunt Brandi, and it looks perfect. I can't wait to see Audrey Kate sitting in her adorable little chair -- hurry up and get her little one!
