I tried to put the baby gate at the bottom of the stairs in such a way that Audrey Kate could go up and down by herself - but Kiley would be safe at the bottom - that didn't last long - Kiley is way too smart!!

Surgery

Well...I found a way to get more pain pills...probably not the easiest or preferred route...but I went in to the ER Sunday and had an emergency appendectomy - just in case I wasn't in enough pain already -- stayed in the hospital overnight - just got home tonight and resting...or at least trying to...can't wait to feel good again - keep the prayers going - I sure need them.

Blogging Delay

Sorry for the blogging delay - just can't get around to it these days. I was in a car accident 2 weeks ago (girl turned in front of me - her fault). Results, two bulging discs and one herniated disc in my neck. The pain is tolerable on pain killers and muscle relaxors. I have to get in to see an orthopedic surgeon or a neurosurgeon....trouble is - none of them will see me because of the motor vehicle accident...something about getting paid. I think that I have found one, but won't know till Wednesday after he reviews my MRI films. I hope to get in to see him soon as I will run out of pills by then - the doctor I am seeing isn't too interested in giving me more pain killers - last time I asked he gave me 5 -- ha - - thanks doc. Anyways - prayers would be appreciated - that I can get in to see someone who can actually help me instead of just refer me somewhere else. Also, prayer for pain relief - I have tried to go without the pain killers several times and it is not something I can tolerate. I know God will take care of the pain and will get me where I need to be - so pray on!

On Wednesday evening....it happened...I no longer have a baby - I realized it while watching her take 4 steps across the room.... My sweet Kiley is now walking!! - and I am the mom of a toddler. (of course I haven't caught it on video yet - but will post one once I do). I can't believe it!!

Room is painted - we picked Pink Whisper by Valspar - very similar to Pink Chalk ;) and it looks fabulous - much better than mint green/seafoam green - We love it and Audrey Kate loves it. The furniture comes on Saturday and that happens to be her birthday. So... we will put up the rest of the decorations and put everything together then. I can't wait to see how it turns out and see her reaction when she sees it all put together for the first time. I will post pictures when I am finished. Thanks for the help Dina and Allison!

Ok - all of your "design/decorating people" - I need some help - we are doing Audrey Kate's room for her birthday - her favorite colors are light turquoise and pink- and I need help deciding on a paint color for the wall that could grow with her. We bought Audrey Kate some white wash furniture - it is coming for her birthday - here is the furniture:

Kiley is only six months old....and is ON THE MOVE!! This is a video from Sunday night...

And...this morning I went to brush my teeth. When I came back in the living room...this is how I found her - She is pulling UP!!! What in the world - I guess she really wanted to see what was going on outside...What a cutie!!

Kiley had her six month check-up on Friday. Audrey Kate went too and was such a big help. Kiley is 16 pounds and in the 64th percentile for weight. She is a tall girl - 99th percentile for her height !! I can't even believe it! Where does the height on my girls come from?? She got a clean bill of health! Yeah Kiley!

Fun Easter Time! We died Easter eggs for the first time. Audrey Kate was excited to mix all the colors and was so proud of her eggs!

We took fun pictures outside. We realized we were running late for church - so we didn't end up taking any with mom :( - and Kiley would only smile after I took the picture - grrrr -

The Easter bunny came while we were at church - how fun! Audrey Kate insisted that the Easter bunny was a girl - and looked all through the neighborhood for her.

Audrey Kate was a pro at finding all the eggs and super excited about the candy and animals inside! Grammy and Papa came to share brunch with us after church! Thank you Lord for your sacrifice and for rising again so we could spend eternity with You!

New House...New Mess

Wes spent the whole day on the landscaping...I don't have pictures since it is dark now...but we found some broken sprinkler heads...water was going everywhere and Audrey was screaming down the street. The street here is so quiet that Audrey's screams stand out all the more!! There is still so much more to do....lots to fix....or clean....or put together....or put away....going on and on...and the work schedule hasn't changed....and there are two little ones. It will feel good when everything is done....until then (whenever that may be)--- we will live like this:

Our New House!

Our loan was approved today! Praise the Lord! We should be moving in on Friday! I can't wait to get moved in and start decorating. You may be wondering why I haven't posted updates in a while....we have been soooo busy --- put our house on the market -sold it in 8 days. We close on our house tomorrow or Thursday. We are in the process of closing on our new house by Monday - praying that nothing falls through --- so we have a new place to call home. House is half-way packed - it is not fun to live with half of your stuff in boxes and the house in complete disarray. Looking forward to decorating a new house - may even be brave enough to paint this time. Also looking forward to being closer to church so we can get more involved. I will share pictures of the new house soon!

So, the other day - Audrey Kate was playing with her daddy - Her hand touched something that felt funny and the following conversation occured:

AK: Daddy, what was that?
D: Nothing Audrey.
AK: Daddy, what WAS that?
D: That was my leg.
AK: THAT was NOT your leg, daddy.
D: ugggh, Audrey - that was my wee-wee.
AK: Your tee-tee?
D: No, my wee-wee. Boys have wee-wees and girls have tee-tees.
AK: (long pause) Let me see that.
D: No Audrey - we don't look at boy's wee-wees.
(end of conversation - uggghhh - crisis averted)

Two days later - I am laying down with her reading books - the following conversation occured:

AK: Mommy?
M: Yes Audrey.
AK: I don't like Daddy.
M: oh no Audrey, why not.
AK: so he no have tee-tee.
M: (laughing) - that's right Audrey - he doesn't have a tee-tee.
AK: Mommy?
M: Yes Audrey
AK: We gotta go buy him one.

LOL - I am sure Wes will be mad at me posting this - but the story is just too funny to keep to myself.

I Love to Sleep!

Kiley put herself to sleep last night in her crib - all by herself!! Also, for the past two weeks she has been sleeping from 11 to 7am. I am so proud of her and much more well rested!! Thank you Jesus for a good baby!

It is one of those early readers....I have no idea where it came from - but- she thought it was hilarious.

We took both girls out with us to celebrate Wes's birthday. We went to dinner and then out for ice cream! I was afraid we couldn't do it -- but both girls did awesome! It was so fun! We ate our ice cream in the back of the tahoe because Kiley had fallen asleep. We were laughing so hard because Audrey Kate was being so funny! She insisted that we call her Great Lily tonight - not sure where that came from. At the end of the night she said "Thank you for the pink ice cream daddy" Then she said "Thank you for eating mommy!" -Hilarious!

Audrey Kate had a panty party to celebrate being completely potty trained (except for nights). We had a Tinkerbell theme (or should we say "tinkle bell" - ha) Audrey Kate was so excited. She got Tinkerbell panties, Hello Kitty panties, and Minnie/Daisy panties(thank you Miss Kristi). She also got some potty accessories including stickers to decorate her stool, foaming hand soap, and two hand towels. She was so proud of herself. We let her invite 2 friends over for cupcakes. She was eager to show her friends the panties she was wearing saying "Wanna see what I have?" Then, she would pull down the front of her pants and say "Big girl panties!" very enthusiastically. We are so proud of her accomplishment!!

(It is also nice to only be buying diapers for one!)

One of her little friends hasn't really started understanding potty training. We let each friend bring home a pair of panties -- this friend thought that it was a hat --- HILARIOUS!

Changes in 2011!

We have had lots of new things going on with our girls this week!

1. Audrey Kate has been very attached to her "milk cups" - she would not drink milk out of ANYTHING else. Then she would suck on it for over 20 minutes like a bottle - RIDICULOUS! The "milk cups" are gone. She now drinks milk from a big girl cup or a straw as long as it is colorful milk! So we make it pink or green, or whatever other color she likes. YEAH!

2. We have had Audrey Kate in panties for over a week!! She has had a few accidents, but is doing fabulous!! I am so proud of her and so excited to only be buying diapers for 1 instead of two - it was kinda pricey there for a little while.

3. Kiley slept 5-6 hours for 3 nights straight! WOO HOO!! She is smiling a ton and cooing! It is totally adorable. She is such a good baby and tolerates all of her sisters noise, touches, and smothering hugs.

4. We have had a hard time at bedtime with both girls...but tonight both girls in bed and asleep by 7:45 - HALLELUJAH!

5. I headed back to work and the girls adjusted to their new schedules beautifully this week.

6. Oh yes - one more new thing -- for a while now Audrey Kate would only eat chicken with a certain kindof BBQ sauce, macaroni, pasta with cheese, eggos, grilled cheese pizza or fruit. NOTHING ELSE!! Refused to even have anything else on her plate. Over my maternity leave I have worked tirelessly to expand her food repetoire. We started by cooking together, kissing and licking foods instead of taking a bite, using our fingers to taste different things, being super silly, and taking teeny tiny baby bites. This week Audrey Kate ate great meals including summer sausage, chicken spaghetti, eggs with cheese, BBQ pork, tilapia (you read that right - my daughter ate two bites of fish), mashed potatoes, baked potatoes, PB and J, and sweet potatoes. She even dipped her pizza in ranch and took a bite of a carrot without any prompting (she did spit it out though saying Yuck) What an awesome girl!! She is now willing to try most anything and is helping cook a ton. She is constantly saying "can I try that?" while we are cooking. She really wanted to try dill and pepper the other day and took a big lick of a lemon and said "that's not good".

The Lord has truely blessed us with these two beauties! More pictures and videos coming soon.

**On a side note, Audrey Kate's language skills shock me all the time. Two sentences from today:

"I'm gonna eat my oranges while my pasta cools."
"Daddy, can you turn on the light for me so I can find my puppy and Jasmin."

She is not even two and a half -- that is just plain crazy!

Bedtime with Friends

Audrey Kate likes to have all her stuffed animals (we call them her "friends) sleep with her at bedtime. She sleeps in a queen sized bed, so there is a lot of room for her friends. They all get wrapped up in a blanket. And, they each friend has a specific blanket. If you use the wrong one she will tell you " No mommy, that's buzz's blanket" - LOL - The other night - Kiley had to get wrapped up too and was given a spot in bed. I love that she is about the same size as Buzz.

My baby has a cast!!

Audrey Kate went to the orthopedic doctor today.....so sad...they said that in order for her ligaments and everything to heal completely she had to wear a cast for two weeks. She came home with a bright pink cast from her hand to her armpit! They were so sweet to put one on her baby Jasmin too.

AudreyKate got a bubble machine for her bath tub from Santa....I think that she likes it!

Then, Daddy got her dressed in her PJs and took her for a fun piggy back ride....he grabbed her right arm by the wrist to swing her on the bed and heard a loud POP - Audrey Kate's elbow had dislocated. It is called "nursemaid's elbow" - so sad. We were told to take her to the ER. They couldn't get it to pop back into place. She has had to wear a splint with a sling. She has worn it for two days. We are off to see a pediatric orthopedic doctor to see if they can "fix" her arm today! Poor baby girl!

Funny Moments with Audrey Kate!

Audrey says so many funny things -- just want to share some and mark them down to remember forever.

I saw a lizard on the wall in the garage and showed it to Audrey Kate. I said "What is that Audrey?" She said "That's a crocodile!!"

We saw a caterpillar when we were on a walk with our friend Reagan. We bent down to look at it and watch it crawl across the sidewalk. Before we knew it, Audrey stepped on the caterpillar. He was completely smashed - Audrey Kate bent over to look at him closer and then said in a sweet voice "I sorry caterpillar!" - she asked me"what happened caterpillar?" after I threw what was left of him in the grass. I told her that the caterpillar had to take a nap. She told Reagan "shhh caterpillar sleeping" and whispered all the way home.

Wes kissed me tonight and Audrey Kate said "no daddy, with the tongue!" - LOL

The Gingerbread Man!

One of Audrey's favorite books recently is The Gingerbread Man. She loves to say "I run and run as fast as I can. You can't catch me, I'm the Gingerbread Man." and "The fox ate him...all gone". It is so cute. Someday I will post a video of her doing this.

Today we went to her pediatrician for her check-up. He said she was doing just great. She is in the 90th percentile for her height and in the 25th for her weight. On the way to the doctor's office I told her that we were going to see Dr. Deitchman. We talked about the doctor and what he was going to do. I asked her if she was going to say hi to Dr. Deitchman. She said back "Yeah I say Hi Dr. Gingerbread Man" - I laughed and laughed! Then I said "No Audrey, his name is Dr. Deitchman." To which she replied firmly"no, name Gingerbread Man!" I laughed again and gave up. Well, when Dr. Deitchman opened the door....she said very loudly "Hi Gingerbread Man!" - I laughed for several minutes before I was able to explain to him what Audrey was talking about.

Audrey Kate is so silly sometimes! Every night we pray with her. In the prayer, we say "Thank you for Kiley" - she is usually sitting next to me. Well, the other night she was sitting next to Daddy - she pointed to Daddy's tummy when she said "Thank you for Kiley" - Daddy said "Audrey, Kiley's right there" - and pointed to my belly - and she said "That's Daddy's Kiley!!! -- HILARIOUS!

A monkey and his clothes!

Audrey has a sock monkey that she received as a gift. She has just recently started to become attached to him. I tried to name her (Audrey insists that it is a girl) something really cute...but Audrey calls her "Maxi". We got the baby clothes from the attic to start getting ready for Kiley while I still have energy. Audrey was very interested in the clothes. So, I put a dress on "Maxi". Audrey loved that "Maxi" was wearing clothes. She even slept with Maxi in her bed that night. It was like clothes moved her up to the "in crowd" (or the in your bed at night while you sleep crowd) -- fast forward to 4:30 in the morning. I wake up to Audrey Kate screaming "maMA, maMA, maMA" I go in her room and say "What is wrong Audrey?" She says "oh no....Maxi have no clothes....see right there". Apparently, Maxi's clothes came off while she was sleeping and Audrey could not sleep with Maxi naked. LOL - she is sure lucky that she is so cute....needless to say Maxi got dressed and Audrey Kate went back to sleep. - what a silly girl!

Spray Park and Cows!

My friend Kristi and I took our girls to the spray park in Roanoke a few weeks ago. It took them a while to be comfortable getting sprayed - but once I jumped in and got wet - the girls were all about it. We played on the swings too! The girls were so good and so much fun.

Then....Chick-Fila had "Cow Appreciation Day" - so silly but so fun! All you had to do is dress like a cow, and you could get a free meal. So, Kristi, Reagan, Audrey Kate and I --- dressed like cows! The girls were totally adorable! Audrey Kate got mad when I took her spots off. All afternoon she kept looking at her shirt and saying "Where my spots go?" Kristi and I were SO cute that a picture just wouldn't do us justice. But here are some of the girls:

Audrey Kate got to play on her Uncle Travis's boat a few weeks ago. She went with her daddy and her cousins. I wasn't able to join them due to being pregnant - but Wesley said she did great!! Everyone loves breakfast in bed....even Audrey Kate! We took her matress with us to Arkansas so she didn't have to sleep on the floor. She did great out of a crib, and we were so proud of her. I can not tell you how much I have loved being a mother to a little girl! She is sweet and thoughtful. She loves all of the girlie things - even bows and painting her toes pink. I love playing baby dolls with her and dressing her in cute dresses. I just loving being a mom to a girl!

Panties!!! What in the world!!

Something happened to my "baby" over the weekend --- she GREW UP!!! Right before our eyes. All of a sudden she started to say "go peepee" - I would check her and she hadn't gone yet - so I would sit her on the potty and she would go - then we would cheer and give kisses and she was so proud of herself. We went to run errands Saturday afternoon - and she told me she had to go when we were at 2 different stores - and then she went - so....when we got to Target - we thought we should better get some panties!!! What a BIG GIRL!! She is not wanting to wear them all the time and is still wanting the comfort of having her diaper on - and we are not pressuring her at all - for goodness sake - she isn't even two - but she tells us 90% of the time and then goes in the potty - WOW -- here is the proud girl showing off her panties!! (She picked Hello Kitty - so cute)

Conversation!

Audrey Kate has started to ask questions - not just requesting (really more like demanding - lol) anymore - it is so precious. If she wants to take something with her she says "bring baby with you?". This morning as I was changing her diaper she said "go downstairs eat. You hungee mommy?" I said "yes I'm hungry" she said "me too hungee" - how sweet. Last night when I got home from work she was sitting on my lap. She leaned on my chest with her face propped up in her hands. She looked me in the face and said "have good day?" -- awwww - I said "yes Audrey i had a good day - did you have a good day?" and she said "yes I did, daddy have good day?" How precious is that?

Here is a picture of Audrey Kate, Wes, and Nana at the zoo - it was so much fun! When we were talking about going to the zoo we were telling Audrey Kate all the animals we were going to see. I told her we would see an elephant. She lifted both hands in the air and said "pick up elephant?" I told her no and she got very upset and said it over and over and over while whining and crying- like she was going to pick it up no matter what I said. When we were at the zoo I said "the elephants are next Audrey". I should have known better - she started talking about picking them up -- haha - then she saw the elephant and she goes "whao mommy big elephant" - such a silly girl.

My sister and I grew up playing golf with my dad. I played on the guys golf team at my school and was #3 my senior year. My sister played on her high school team and in college as well. She even tried out for the LPGA future's tour! Impressive! My whole family likes to play together. My dad is still actively playing in tournaments (he just got back from a huge tournament in Louisiana). My mom and dad play together several times a week.

When Audrey Kate was born - my dad bought her her first golf clubs. We aren't talking plastic clubs....these were REAL golf clubs. She has a 7 iron, a putter, and a driver with this really cute pink and black golf bag. He can't wait to take her out on the links. Audrey Kate started to play with the clubs a few weeks ago and likes to put her golf bag on - how cute is this!

I was thinking about some of the cute things Audrey Kate has done/said over the past few weeks. I wanted to write them down before I forgot about them -she is a very silly girl!

- Every time she saw snow - she would say "Yuk mommy ho!" (translation - look mommy snow) I hope no one got offended.

-Every time Audrey Kate sneezes or coughs - she says "Bess you Audee" - so cute.

- My very favorite candies are Sour Patch Kids. I was eating some in the car the other day and Audrey Kate asked for one. I gave her a little piece, just to see what she would think. About 20 seconds later she asked for another one - I looked at her and the first one appeared to be gone. I couldn't believe that she liked them! I gave her a few more little pieces and she said "more" after each one - so funny. Well, later that afternoon I needed to change her shirt. When I took her shirt off, I found all of the sour patch kid pieces stuck to her chest - - so funny! (guess she didn't eat them after all)

- Audrey Kate was playing with a golf ball. She came up behind me and hit me in the head with it. It really hurt. I said "OW Audrey - that hurt" Then I fake cried VERY dramatically for about 30 seconds. She stared at me the whole time with this bewildered look on her face. Then after about a minute - she did the same thing to her head - she just hit herself with the golf ball. She looked so shocked that it actually hurt her. She cried for a little while and then put her palm to the side of my face and said "Sawwy Mommy!!" - How precious is that!!!

- The other thing she does that cracks me up - every time my phone rings she says very loudly "Mommy hhhhone" - she does the same for Wes but says "Daddy hhhhone" - it is so adorable.

Alright - I know it is not an Audrey update - but I have tried/bought some new products and wanted to let you know about them - just in case you wanted to know:

First up - the Bounce Dryer Bar - LOVE IT!! It sticks inside your dryer - you don't have to remember the dryer sheet and your clothes don't smell as strong as with the dryer sheet - (which I like) - I also think that I am saving money by using it - It has been in my dryer for about 2 months and I have at least a month of so to go (I think)

2. The Steam Fast Steam Mop -- I never realized how nasty my floors were until I had to play on them with my child - YUCK - even after mopping them - I decided to try this steam mop to disinfect my floors - I used to hate mopping - now I do it more often and this steam mop makes it so easy. I got it for $50 at walmart.com ( http://www.walmart.com/ip/Steamfast-Hard-Floor-Steam-Mop/7780088 ) and shipped it site-to-store for no additional cost - LOVE IT!!

3. Cascade Gel dishwasher liquid - HATE IT! It smells good - but it is a PAIN to squeeze out of the jug - back to using the Cascade powder which I am not crazy about either - any cost effective suggesstions??

The saying "You can't carry a tune" apply directly to me. Thankfully, my loved ones have been very clear about this; and, as a result, I will never try out for American Idol. Well, tonight I received another confirmation that I can not sing well. I always sing to Audrey Kate before I put her to bed. I started to sing tonight and she said "no no mommy!" HaHa! Guess she has a good ear!

I didn't know that so many people followed our blog...so sorry for the delay - things have been CRAZY here in the Roe house for the last month or so. First, the stomach flu.....I have cleaned throw-up off of myself 3x --off the floor, the walls, the furniture, and AK... thank you AK - she was sick for a whole week - then both Wes and I got sick - so that was fun....then AK was having all kinds of stomach pain the next week. We eventually took her to the ER the following weekend after she was up much of the night with pain. Turned out she was constipated - which I would never had known, since she was having regular #2s - guess her stomach just didn't recuperate well after the flu. They gave her an enema and some antibiotics for an ear infection. We went 18 months without antibiotics....but the doctor said she really needed them because of the bad cold and ear infection. Then I got what she had (the cold and cough). Then, that Friday I put her to bed - and she didn't want to go to bed - Right after I closed the door, I heard a loud boom. So, I opened the door and she was standing on the other side. I couldn't believe it! She climbed out of her crib at 18 months. I guess that that is what we get for having a girl in the 75th percentile for her height - tall girl and put her leg over the side of the crib (we had an 18 month check-up - she was 21 punds - 10th percentile). I put her mattress on the floor and pillows around the mattress in case she fell out. Well, she woke up every 45-90 minutes and started walking around...not such a good idea to put the pillows on the floor because she kept tripping over them. We were so tired...and just wanted a good night's sleep (it had been weeks). Thank goodness my husband had the genius idea to turn the crib around the next night. She can barely see over the top of the other side - so I think we have a few months before we have to explore the toddler bed ----uuggghhh. The first night she tried to scale the side of the crib - but was not successful - and now she is sleeping well once again.

Now...I still do not have the pictures and videos on the computer to post. We have been taking a lot of them - the memory on the camera is full - maybe I will transfer them this week --- maybe......

Hakuna Matata!

It means "no worries" for the rest of your days....or so the song says. Accepting Jesus assures me of "Hakuna Matata"! Praise Jesus for that. I am reminded of this every day - at least 10 times or so - every time Audrey Kate requests to listen to "tata" as she calls it.....so Hakuna Matata is constantly playing at our house. I know it has been a while since I wrote an update - so besides listening to "tata" all the time - here is what is going on in our house!

- we had a great christmas. It was fun to have a white christmas - AK played in the snow a little, but she kept falling and getting snow in her face and she didn't really like that part. We spent Christmas Eve at my parent's house - we went to church and then had dinner and stockings at my parents. Their house was beautifully decorated for Christmas - and it was good to see my siblings too. We drove home that night in the snow and ice - the 1 hour drive turned in to 2 1/2 hours - thank the Lord for his protection and for my husband's good driving skills. We celebrated Christmas at my house with presents in the morning and then my family came over for lunch and more presents and lots of games. We laughed a lot and enjoyed spending time together.

-New Year's Eve - what would you expect parents of a 17 month old to do to celebrate? You are right - we went to bed at 10:00 - LOSERS!!! Haha! It was nice to get some sleep!

- What is our little one doing now? Audrey Kate is running, jumping, dancing, climbing, and growing so fast. She is talking up a storm - last count she was just over a hundred words and starting to put 2 and 3 words together. Her teacher at school says she knows the names of the other kids in her class and calls them by name - what a smartie - should I stop giving her speech therapy yet?? haha! Wes says that "she may talk a lot, but she just doesn't listen!" She is kindof a stubborn little girl - I think she gets that from her dad (haha) - She understands what we say - but chooses to run the other way shortly after she says "no" very dramatically!! - so funny!! She still loves her best friend "Rae Rae". Everytime she sees "Rae Rae" she screams her name and runs to give her a big hug!! When AK went to hug "Rae Rae" today "Rae Rae" went forward with an open mouth ready for a kiss -- it was so silly. "Rae Rae's" mom and I couldn't help but laugh at our two angels. We sure do love "Rae Rae" at our house!!

Audrey Kate loves her mittens, jacket, hat, and boots - she received all of these things for Christmas and loves to wear them - or at least some of them - ALL the time - no matter the weather! Sometimes she has on one boot on her foot - one boot on her hand/arm, and a mitten on the other hand ready to eat snack - what a funny girl - but I like to embrace her creativity!

Deck the Halls....

I wanted to get a fabulous wreath and some decorations for the fireplace this year. The only wreaths that I liked were well over $100 - and that just wouldn't do. I spent a whole day trying to find the perfect wreath. After much frustration, I decided to make the wreath myself -- and the fireplace looks beautiful! I am so proud of myself - the pictures don't even do it justice - you will just have to come over and see it. I am so proud of how it turned out.

I put up and decorated the tree a few weeks ago when Audrey Kate was napping. I put a bunch of ornaments on the tree that she could take on and off - needless to say - our tree changes daily -- but it is nice to let her enjoy it and not have to tell her no all the time.

Audrey Kate has a really cute real laugh. But lately she has been using this "I have an evil plan" laugh - it is so silly and makes me laugh every time. It reminds me of the episode on Friends where Phoebe and Joey are coming up with a plan and they do the "plan laugh" -- anyway - enjoy are silly girl with her silly laugh!

We had a surprise waiting for us in the garage a few weeks ago. It was a snake. I tell people about the snakes that we get and they look at my like I am lying when I say how big they are. The snakes that we get at our house are HUGE!!! Here is a video of the latest one that was hiding behind the trash can -- SCARY!! (Casey and Wes sealed up the holes in the garage that we think the snakes use to get in - so watch out neighbors - they are coming to you now :)

Every night after her bath she listens to some music with daddy - ROCK music -- so special to share time with Daddy - watch her jam to the Muse -- so cute!

Audrey Kate had her 15 month check up. She now weights 20.4 pounds and is 30 1/2 inches tall. She is in the 15th percentile for her weight and 50th percentile for her height - she loves to run, play, dance, swing, and climb. She learned how to jump and spin in circles too -- I think she likes getting dizzy.

Her word list just gets longer and longer - but here are the ones that I can remember:

night night, up, all done, the end, more, juice, milk, bath, book, ball, daddy, mommy, baby, belly bee( for belly button), ahhh (for airplane), choo choo, woo woo (for the fire truck) pumpkin, down, baba (bottle), mimi (for her lamb), eyes, nose, yeah, Annie, RaeRae(for her friend Reagan), around (for the fan), eat, car, uh-oh, off, weeee, no-no, oooz (for shoes) and lots of animal sounds.

She is so much fun - we are so blessed to have her as our daughter - and enjoy every minute!!

When we bought our house, I was so excited to get stainless steel appliances - they were soooo pretty. But, they are a PAIN to clean. The cleaners always left streaks or didn't make it shine. I had to scrub forever and it still looked awful. The appliances made my kitchen look gross. Well, I have found the best product EVER. Weiman's Stainless Steel wipes!! They are awesome.

No spraying, limited scrubing, and beautiful appliances. My appliances look brand new. With little hands exploring everything - there are always handprints everywhere - now they are no longer a problem. Wes laughed at me because I said "I love these....look at the fridge!" like 50x. If you too have suffered from stainless steel blues - go get these wipes.

Arkansas vs. A&M

We went to the Arkansas game at the new Cowboys stadium last night. It was so much fun. The stadium is amazing! The game was great - we loved watching Arkansas rack up the points. We also enjoyed spending time with family. Audrey Kate had her first sleepover at a friends house because it was a night game, and did just great. Here are some pictures of the stadium...if you ever get the chance, you should go, just to see it! Amazing!!

Audrey Kate and I went through her whole bedtime routine - and after prayer I put her in her crib. And you will never guess what happened........she DIDN'T cry. She just laid down and eventually fell asleep....no tears....no pacifier!!! What a big girl!!! Oh....and she now calls me Mama!!! So sweet -- still brings tears to my eyes -- we only have two things left to work on...for now.

1. Transitioning to full time sippy cup (I gave her some formula in her sippy the other day and she just let it dribble out of her mouth...she did this two times. Then I put the formula in her bottle and she sucked it down....uuggghhh - I am definitely introducing the milk in the sippy cup.
2. Transitioning to milk from formula (I want to wait until after her doctor's appointment on Friday to make sure that she is nutritionally ready to move to milk....she is just so petite!)

Day 6

Audrey Kate is halfway through Day 6 without her pacifier. She had a great weekend, but I was concerned about her going to school without her pacifier. She didn't take a morning nap - just fussed in her bed for a while and then started talking and singing - haha - - but she did take a good afternoon nap. Her teacher said she was a little bit clingy too - but I think if we give her another week she will be doing just great. I know that I decided to give up the pacifier early - but I knew that she could do it and I knew that the earlier we did it the easier it would be - even if she had a hard time napping at school. We can work through that. I hope I did the right thing for her - this parenting stuff is hard!!! (mostly hard to make a decision and know that it is the best one for your child -- uuggghhh)

Day 2

Day 2 has gone remarkably well. She has cried for less than 15 minutes and that is only at naptime and bedtime. We went to Walmart after her afternoon nap/snack and then went over and played with the children across the sleep before bed. Audrey Kate did great and only cried for her pacifier when I put her in her crib. All in all day 2 was a success. I am still not planning on taking her to church tomorrow so that she will not miss her morning nap. That way she will be able to focus on being without the pacifier without being over tired. I am so proud of how good she is doing without her pacifier.

On a different note, Audrey Kate has been extra cute today. We have been reading her several books a day since she was born. This girl LOVES books. She looks at them by herself all the time and loves to help turn the pages and imitate us pointing to the pictures. Well, today she started bringing books to us and then putting her hands up so we can put her in our lap. She waits while we read looking at all the pictures and imitating some of the sound effects. Then she gets down and gets another one. Then the process starts all over. Also, today she kept bringing me my flip flops and wanting me to put them on. Then she wanted me to take them off. She would pick them up - walk around with them a while and then bring them back for me to put on. So cute!!

She has been saying several words for a while, but the list keeps growing and growing. She now consistently and spontaneously says:

Daddy, Annie, Hi, Bye, Ba(for bottle), and woof woof for dog. So cute - she is also imitating a ton - but rarely does she even attempt to say mama - so silly. She will get it one of these days.

End of Day 1

Well... Audrey Kate did GREAT! She cried a total of 20 minutes. It seemed that the hardest thing for her was bedtime. We usually give her the pacifier while we go through the bedtime routine - so she knows bedtime is coming - I think she still thought that it was time to play even though we did the same routine. She cried for about 10 minutes and has been asleep ever since. I hope she sleeps well through the night.

Wes has been sick the past 3 days - so Audrey Kate and I have been spending lots of quality time together. Let's just say that life as a single mother would be tough. Today I was taking care of Wes, Audrey Kate, and Annie (she was needing lots of attention and playtime today)straigtening up the house, catching up on laundry, and trying to do a little work from home. I am exhausted from my day....looking forward to the weekend and having Wes back on his feet.

Round 2

Ok...I thought about it all week and decided that this weekend was the weekend to begin round 2. And this is a round I plan on winning. I am more prepared this time. The schedule for the weekend is light, no big plans or outings that would take us far from home. And, we have her "Tiga" (her stuffed Tiger) and a blankie ready to comfort her. I put her down for her nap this morning and she cried for about 5 minutes and then was off to sleep. I am so proud of her! We have 4 days to work on this before she goes back to school. I think that we probably will not go to church on Sunday so she can stay on schedule and work on being without her dear pacifier. I know that she can do it, and I know that I can do it. When she goes back to school, it will be hard on the teachers because 2 of the other children in her class use the same pacifier that she does. But her teachers are great and I know that they will help Audrey Kate along. Lift up a prayer for my little one!

Giving up on giving up....for now!

Well, round one of giving up the pacifier goes to Audrey Kate! The first day went great! We stayed home all day and completely on our routine. She cried for a total of 30 minutes and even slept all night....but then came Saturday. I didn't realize how much Audrey Kate used a pacifier to cope with being away from home. She wants it in the car, when she is tired, and when she is in a strange place. It is definitely her security blanket. Well, Saturday we were out running errands in the morning and it did not go well at all. So, the girl got her pacifier back. I think that maybe we need to decrease pacifier use out of the house first before we take it away all together. I think that we will start to bring a special toy with us when we are out and about to help with the transition. I just never realized how much she relied on it for comfort. I think the time we take it away we need to plan on a good 4 days straight at home to get used to life without her pacifier. Now, I don't plan on having a child on a pacifier until 3, I just plan on having a better plan the next time around. I think we will give her another few weeks and then try it again. LOL - maybe I gave in too quickly - but her pouty face is just too cute!!

Getting ready for the BIG day!

We have 20 days...that is right my friends....there are 20 days left until my little baby girl turns 1!!! I can't believe that she is almost one already. We have several things to accomplish by the time she is one. She is already walking, eating well (this is a biggie for her) and talking up a storm. So, you may be saying, what is left. Here is the list:

Step 1: Falling asleep by herself - yeah - this one has been acheived. She fusses when we sing the good night song or she sees her crib because she knows it is coming - but then she goes down pretty quickly - our schedule has really helped with this - plus the fact that she was ready but mommy and daddy really enjoyed rocking her to sleep,

Step 2: De-pacifier - oooohhh I am not looking forward to this one - but AK already just takes a paci at nap time. I think we should start today - nap time is in about 30 minutes - should we try it with no pacifier? -- this could be a long weekend. How long do you think it will take AK to learn to sleep without the pacifier? 1 nap session (I wish), 1 day, 3 days, a whole week --- place your bets!!!

Step 3: De-bottle and move to full time sippy cup use
Step 4: De-formula and embrace milk!
Step 5: Say MAMA!!

The most horrible thing happened to me today...I was updating my blog list. The blog list is so cool because it lets me know when people have updated their blogs and then I know I have new news to read. I was trying to add a new blog and the whole list DELETED!!! I am so sad....the worst part is that I don't know the blog links of all my friends --- uuuggghhhh -- so...if you read my blog - please send me a link to yours so that I can stay updated. I love reading about your lives and feel completely friendless now...it is almost like I lost my cell phone -- boo hoo!! :(

It has been forever since I posted on this blog an update in the life of the Texas Roe Family....but don't get your hopes up because it isn't happening today. I just wanted to share some of my favorite photos from an impromptu photo shoot with "world renowned" photographer Brandi Roe - well at least she is well-known for her photography skills in our family. Anyway, enjoy and look for a complete update soon!
